162 Could not find a marriage bond in Bedford County records for the couple. In 1787, there was a chancery suit filed by Isaac Cundiff, next best friend of Isaac, Elizabeth, Margaret, James, Lewis, John, Wiliam and Richard Cundiff. Mentions their mother, Mary Squires, widow of Jonathan Cundiff.

In 1810, there's another chancery suit, by Lewis, William and Richard Cundiff, on the estate of their brother, James Cundiff, who died intestate. The sisters are mentioned by their marriage names and husbands - Uriah and Elizabeth Squires and James and Peggy Flournoy.. Their mother is referred to as Molly Squires. Also mentioned is a half-brother, Thomas Squires.

There are several references to Uriah Squires being married to Elizabeth Trigg, and she being the mother of all of his children. Looks as though Elizabeth Cundiff was a second wife.

173 Description:
The Gene Pool was created while gathering genealogical data for use in the study of human genetics and disease. Compiling data for genetic research does not require the same type of documentation as traditional genealogical research. The genes themselves verify relationships and qualify or disqualify a person from a particular study. Citing the source of every genealogical fact in the electronic gene pool was deemed unnecessary and cost prohibitive by medical researchers. Millions of individual records were created from birth, marriage and death records; obituaries; probate records; books of remembrance; family histories; genealogies; family group sheets; pedigree charts; and other sources. The records collected that did not fit a specific study became the project's "by-products" and were schedule to be discarded. After viewing the quality of the source material used to create the gene pool and despite the absence of cited documentation, the electronic rights to the data were purchased, rather than see it destroyed.

the source for all of this is family records and personal knowledge with the exception of the middle name for Fountain for which our family Bible only gave an initial 'F.' and we found the middle name on the internet and our family record gave his wife's surname as Grubb whereas the internet site gave it as Holt and we later learned she had been married previous so we put it together that her maiden name was Grubb but she was surnamed Holt when she married Fountain. this is only my husband's direct line of descent from Fountain. We do have laterals if you want them. Please be specific or reply on this email so I know what you might be after. We have the complete families of most of these people as well as the families of their siblings.

As an FYI, our research indicates that His 4 children were born two by his first wife and two by his second wife. Nancy and Silas being children of Fountain and Elizabeth Mills, his first wife, while Mary and William were born to his second wife, Elizabeth J. GRUBB (Holt) may have been a widow as she often recorded as Elizabeth J. Holt. However, her maiden name is on her son's death record as Elizabeth J. Grubb, daughter of 'Jake Grubb' per her death record and her mother's maiden surname is given as 'Arthur'. So, our record is slightly different than your post, ours having the wives married in the reverse and the children split between them. We have Willam Crawford Cundiff (your William C. Cundiff) born 25 Dec 1849 at Somerset Pulaski Co, KY. Just thought late readers might want to know where we've been since the last post and thank you so much for all your help! You've been grand! If you want anything on these, let me know.

Glad to have it if it isn't too much trouble. If we have already done this off the board, ignore this message! I am so swamped I am having trouble with recall! My new email is Jhickav@aol.com. TIP#152 REVOLUTIONARY WAR SOLDIERS HARDIN, HARLAN, HARRISON, HART, & HENDERSON COS
----------

Archived with permission of Sandi Gorin
http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ky/Tips

As a new series of information for my readers, and to be interspersed with the
other tips, I am going to publish a list of Revolutionary War soldiers that was
was drawn up by Anderson Chenault Quisenberry, Secretary of War to Congress in
1835 and published later by the Kentucky Society of the American Revolution.
Quisenberry's original works were done in 1895, and at the end of the series I
would like to add some of his comments. Additional information will be added
from Collins' History. In my e-mails on the tips that I publish, I have been
blessed to have many, many compliments that this list is helping. Most of you,
like myself are looking for illusive clues that will help us find our families
and like me also, many are always scanning lists of names in the hopes of
finding our pioneer there. Maybe you'll find that name here ... it's sometimes
easier to find information when one lives in Kentucky, and much harder when one
is many miles away and working from libraries that often do not have the books
one needs.

These lists are all the pensioners under the Act of March 18, 1818 and the Act
of June 7, 1832. The first date is when the individual was placed on the pension
rolls; the second when the pension began. Age, if shown, would be age at time of
application (for the act of 1818).

Your family tree popped up as a "hint" for my grandmother, Julia Elizabeth Cundiff, daughter of Stinson Cundiff and Henrietta Weddle. My grandmother was born 15 Nov. 1914 and died 14 Feb. 1998 in Cincinnati, Hamilton Co. Ohio. She married Herbert W. Floyd on 16 Nov. 1935 in Pulaski Co. KY.

Hope this helps your search.

For the 6th gen. Richard Cundiff, I have him producing at least 3
children with Hannah Gibson: George Washington, Perry, and William M.
(William M.(b.10-3-1818) is in my line. He married Martha Massie to
produce William H.) I have more if you are interested. If I am
mistaken, I'd appreciate a correction. Thanks

Greg,

Thanks for the update. I'm new at this.

Going through my father's papers, I found a list of Richard6 Cundiff's
nine children with Hannah Gibson, which agrees with your list. The
website only has George Washington. My line goes through William
Mortamere.

Other points of interest are the second marriage and death of Richard6.
You have him marrying Parmelia Zachary in 1826 and dying in 1882, both
in Pulaski Co., Ky. That would give him a lifespan of 101 years. My
records (the above mentioned list, made in 1952 by Mrs. Rollin Cundiff,
Columbia, Ky?; I also have an Adair County ct. record that has a Richard
Cundiff dying in Adair County on Dec. 3, 1821, with Hannah Gibson as
administrator) say he died in 1821 in Adair County, Ky. and say nothing
about a second wife. Seven of the nine children apply in the same
court records in 1825 for a guardian.

You don't have anything on the children of William Mortamere Cundiff
(my line--I have that he died May 25). From W.M. Cundiff's Bible,
1833?, c/o Mrs. Dempsey Rice, Columbia, Ky., Route 1, Adair co., he
appears to have had 2 children with Martha Massie: William H. Cundiff
(my line), born Sep. 18, 1850, died Feb. 24, 1922, married to Elizabeth
Conover on Nov. 15, 1871 and T. Richard Cundiff, born Feb. 18, 1852,
died June 12, 1939. William H. Cundiff and Elizabeth Conover produced
Welby G. Cundiff, born June 25, 1876 in Adair County, Ky., died July 27,
1942 in Allen, Texas. Welby G. Cundiff married Sally Meda Collins on
June 19, 1901 in Columbia, Ky. and they produced Ralph Weldon Cundiff,
born Nov. 17, 1903. Ralph Weldon Cundiff married Hazel Cogburn, and
they produced William Cundiff, born in Mckinney, Texas on April 7,
1924. William Cundiff married Ancilla Noack in Munich, Germany and
produced yours truly, Karl Cundiff on April 19, 1953 in Sparta,
Wisconsin.

I've left out a few details that I could get together later, but I
wanted to get back to you. Is any of this worthy of being incorporated
into the website?

Thanks for your interest,
Karl Cundiff

PS: My records also differ on Richard4. They have him and his brother
Johnathon coming over from England, whereas the website has them being
born in Va., with Richard2 coming over first from England.
